11 weeks and the heartbeat

Everything is going great! I met w/ my midwife yesterday and everything looks good! Our little one's heartbeat is 150 bpm, going healthy and strong. It was so amazing to hear and I was able to record it on my phone so that I could let Jay hear later on. With Grandma in the hospital and Doug having to watch Uncle Johnny - they are a little shorthanded so he thought it best to stay home and work on the farm.

The only thing that she told me to do was to eat more veggies!!! It is so hard when preparing a meal for just us to make a full course meal cuz we are terrible about eating the leftovers, they usually go to waste. So i'm trying - I'm buying more veggies now I just have to remember to actually cook them! And I just bought a bunch of fruit cuz Jay is in this kick where he's having (almost) no desserts. Occasionally he will crack - but he wants to start eating more fruits and healthier sweets as an alternative to desserts...we will see how that goes though!

Well, I guess that's all for now - soon I will get a belly pic up! Although I'm not growing to fast so it might be a little while.

WOW!!!

I do not feel like I'm 10 weeks along already....I haven't had any symptoms. I feel absolutely wonderful!! There are still days when I wonder - am I just eating too much and that's why I've put on the weight or am I really in fact preggo??? It just doesn't seem real just quite yet! Next Tuesday is my second appointment with my nurse midwife, we will go over my blood work and I'm hoping we will get to hear a heartbeat.

The last two nights I've had several strange dreams...two nights ago I dreamed that I had twin girls. Even though we aren't going to be finding out what we are having part of me is hoping for a boy. I've always wanted to have a boy first to be the protective older brother of his little sister...anyways back to my dream. Such a strange dream - the whole birth process was totally skewed (I will spare you the details). All I know is that it woke me up. And the one I dreamed last night was so very strange I won't even mention it...LOL! I guess that's what pregnancy does to you!

All About Moms

Why did God make mothers?
1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.

1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.

1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?
1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.

What did Mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
2 She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?
1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?
1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.
4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?
1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

Week 9...wow!

Wow, am I really 9 weeks?? Jay and I are so very excited about this new little bundle of joy and sometimes I have to almost pinch myself because I have a hard time believing that it is real!! I can't wait to get started on the nursery and as soon as I am actually going to be at home for a weekend I will get started on it! I need to move my office out of the nursery, but between school work and travel I haven't had much time to do that. Still feeling wonderful (I keep waiting for it all to hit...m/s, fatigue, and all other signs). Here is what is going on w/ my baby this week from 3dpregnancy.com.

Big news! You may be able to hear the heartbeat this week with the help of a Doppler, an ultrasound device that captures the chug-a-chug sound of baby's heart. The first time you hear baby's heart, your own heart may skip a beat—it's the first real evidence that there's someone growing inside you! If you can't hear the heartbeat, no worries, your doc will just check again in a few weeks. Other amazing developments this week:

Baby is beginning to move, but you won't be able to feel anything for some time.

Baby is growing nipples and hair follicles (although there's still a chance you'll be giving birth to a baldy!) His pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts and anus are all in place, ready to poop and pee a dozen times a day when he's born. Your baby's head is half the size of his body and his little chin is tucked into his chest. His tiny tail is beginning to shrink away, giving Junior a more human and less amphibious look.

Until now, all pre-babies look the same "down there." This week, however, your baby will begin to develop either male or female genitalia. In layman terms, your baby is beginning to develop her hoo-ha or his wee-wee. While you won't be able to find out the gender of your baby for several more weeks, the version you'll give birth to is being developed right now.

At this stage, your developing fetus is 1-inch in length, about the size of a martini olive (you remember martinis, don't you?) and weighs a mere 2 grams—a little less than a penny.
